Do you believe in exorcism or possessed?

Post by gali »

The age-old idea that people can be afflicted by otherworldly spirits is prevalent in nearly all cultures. In fact, it was prevalent in this book as well. Do you believe in demons and evil spirits? That you can actually be possessed by one? Do you believe in exorcism? Do share!

I do believe in evil spirits. I don't believe they are responsible for all evil but definitely some.

I don't believe in them myself. I think that blaming evil spirits for evil acts takes the responsibility from our hands.

I believe that evil spirits exist in the world and I believe that sometimes they can take possession of people. I don't really believe an exorcism would work. I just think its up to the person to take back control over their own mind and body.

I want to say no, but there is a part of me that believes in it. I've known some people that say they've seen their family members get possessed, but I'm not sure whether to believe them. I believe in it to some extent.

What a thought provoking question. I am the type of person who has to see something like that to believe it. It is not that I lack trust, I do not want to think that any person could be possessed by an evil spirit. I have read of witnessed evil possessions and I don't want to suggest it has never happened, but I would have to see it to believe it as well as an exorcism.

I am the same and have to encounter a spirit to believe it. 8)

I do believe in evil spirits and possessed souls too. But its not always an evil spirit who possesses a soul, sometimes its a holy spirit too.

I believe that all human beings possess a soul, and I've always wondered what happens to us after we die. But maybe I believe in the idea of rebirth too strongly, to consider good/evil spirits a possibility.
However, there are plenty of suspicious or strange incidences which science or psychology can't explain, so I don't know; anything can be true. :eusa-think: One thing I'm sure of though, is that if there are evil spirits, then I surely don't want to meet one, even for the sake of proof!

I don't believe in evil spirits, possession or exorcism. That doesn't stop me from looking over my shoulder while reading a scary book about them though!

I believe people are responsible for their own bad deeds (unless perhaps they have mental issues) and blaming it on devils/spirits/voices is a get out of jail free card. Nevertheless, it's still cool to read about or see. I still loved Stigmata.

I have never been a big believer in ghosts, spirits, demons, etc. Most people I talk to that do believe in these things only do because of a specific experience they believe they had with a spirit. Maybe one day I will be of the same mind if I have one of these experiences :o

This question is quite hard to answer. In my opinion, there are evil spirits and possessed souls. However, I'd be completely certain with my answer that they really do exist once I witness one myself.

I agree. We should hold only ourselves responsible for all our actions.

I don't want one of those experiences. I'm happy to believe without one! I think I'd probably pee my pants (or worse) if I did have some type of experience.
