Solaris Seethes Book One of Solaris Series

Solaris Seethes is a pleasant sci-fi adventure for young adult readers. The story follows Rynah, lavender skinned, green haired, grand daughter of a not so mad alien scientist, as she attempts to repair her newly devasted home planet by gathering the legendary six crystals of ancient myth. Her companion Solaris, an highly self intelligent, if out dated and a bit rusty, space ship left to Rynah by her grandfather, urges her towards fulfilling ancient prophesy by gathering those fortold long ago as saviors of the universe. This leads them to 'kidnap' four 'heros' from some primative little planet called Earth, snatching them up from across history. Solon, a timid yet wise young Greek scribe. Alfric, a Viking warrior king, a man of brute strength with a good heart. Brie, a modern day picked upon teen, half orphaned and afraid of her own shadow. And fun loving Tom, a bold young inventor of the future, witty and intelligent.
This unlikely and comendeered 'crew' embark on a universe spanning adventure, full of suprises and hardships. Harsh forbidding alien worlds, terrible carniverous alien wildlife, ruthlessly cunning space pirates, and many other unexpected dangers stand in their way. Only by working together can they possibly overcome these dangers and help Rynah restore her world before her turncoat ex fiance Klanor can wreak havoc on all the remaining worlds of the cosmos by gathering the crystals together himself.
The crew's hugely varied backgrounds prove to be both a help and a hinderance as they learn to respect one another and work as a team. With the guidance of Solaris and her witty personality they set out to gather the lost crystals, following the riddles of an ancient prophesy all the while battling off Klangor and his organization.
Janet McNathy's writing is solid and she does a wonderful job of painting understandable characters. The book is full of fast paced adventure and a good amount of whimsy. Young adults will easily bond with one or more of the likable characters. McNathy breathes heartfelt emotion into these delightful and believable characters. Action scenes are dramatic without being overly gruesome, a job very well done. I believe most parents will find the book appropriate in content for their young teen.
I give this book this book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. While being a nice read it does lack something of originality. This should not detract much from its appeal to younger readers, but it does not offer much for the avid sci-fi reader.

It was a good young adult sci-fi. This is the review I got very low points on, my apologies to McNulty for misspelling her name. :/ Autocorrect can be the devil.
