Get ready to have your mind blown by this fiction marvel! May I welcome you, to book one of the Superhighway Trilogy. The author, Alex Fayman, brings us a tale seemingly taken right from the secret files of the CIA and the former Soviet Union. Fayman quite wittingly takes us through experiences we can’t even begin to believe without reading, you may have imagined teleportation before, but nothing quite like this Superhighway.
Set in modern-day, Alex Fine was an orphan since birth with no knowledge of his parents. Being raised and loved by the orphanage director, he grows to be a strong and intelligent young man. Shortly after turning eighteen, computers come to the orphanage; Alex’s reaction was as a child’s but with a greatly different outcome. As he said, “For me, that day, my life departed from its path and would never be predictable again.” As he experiences technical difficulties he is taken on a wild ride through the fiber-optic wire, experiencing something he can only describe to us after each occurrence. On his journey, he can travel just about anywhere and decides to use his new-found gift to help the less-fortunate; dubbing himself a “Digital Robin Hood.” All along, while experiencing the ups and downs of his gift, he is wondering why? Why him? The answers are not what you expect, and you will have to read it to find out.
I know it all seems very far-fetched, but this is not an “Alice-In-Wonderland” situation, what-so-ever. The plot and characters are easily relatable, especially, with the ongoing inability of our governments to effectively shut down the many terrorist and organized crime organizations troubling our world. As a result, the theme was made even more lucrative. Taking from the “evil” doers of the world and giving to the disenfranchised was quite interesting in the fact that it was killing two birds with one stone. When taking out the bad, we prevent more harm; when we support the good in the world, more good should come of it.
It was a definite page-turner, with romantic twists and heart-racing action throughout. The author did a splendid job of explaining every facet, to the point it all seemed eerily possible. The book took me to a place I didn’t expect but made it all the more interesting. The ending was well-written and has me eager to read the next book. I was amazed at the author’s cunning ability to actually grab me by the hand and drag me through the tubes with them… epic.
I am giving the sci-fi thriller, Superhighway, 4 out of 4 stars for its amazing plot and the author’s literary genius. Sci-fi is neither my favorite genre nor one I choose very often at all, but this book accomplished exactly what a mystery novel would have for me. Even though there were some minor errors, the novel in all respects was a wonderful read. I will most definitely be reading the rest of the series and recommending it to many of my friends and co-workers. If this book is a pretense for what is to come, this series will be a sure-fire hit for conspiracy theorists and anyone with a knack for the unknown possibilities of the world.
