For Sci-fi for example: Project Hail Mary
Maybe specify a bit what you are looking for? What kind of fiction books? Fantasy, general fiction, historical? What books you already read and liked?

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke is a fun psychological mystery. This one is relatively short and easy to pick up after the initial chapters.

How to Defeat a Demon King in Ten Steps by Andrew Rowe is one of my favourite stand alone fantasy books. It’s basically a parody of The Legend of Zelda.
