I'm currently reading Cry baby Cry... or Not by DeWandus Johnson. It's the first time I'm reading a crime story and it's really interesting! Any suggestions for some more crime based books??
Thank you :D

Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky is great! It deals with the psychology of someone who has committed murder, it is a very interesting book with some deep insight.

I read a lot of true crime, like The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule (which is about Ted Bundy). Currently I’m reading I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara and I love it!

Dean Koontz has a lot of thrillers and mysteries that have criminal-like themes. I'd totally recommend Phantoms to start with.

I just reviewed a book called Lingering Poets. The plot centers around crime and it is beautifully written, so I'd highly recommend it for you. Feel free to read my review if you would like more information!

Framed by Kate Morgenroth is such a great read. It's not much of a crime genre though. It's about a teenage guy who got framed by his future stepfather. No one can actually help him because his mother is running for Mayor. So if she help him, it would be bad for her name. So he was sent to jail and after many years, he went out and confronted the man who framed him then showed the evidence to his mother.

I haven't read a lot of crime stories - Sherlock Holmes, and Encyclopedia Brown when I was young. But, the one that I would recommend is Lines and Shadows by Joseph Wambaugh. When I was little, my dad would often stop and as he walked by me he would say things - sometimes a Shakespeare quote, sometimes he would say, "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The shadow knows." It's a quote from Walter B. Gibson, apparently. I thought it must have something to do with Peter Pan as Peter at one point looses his shadow. So I happened across a book entitled Lines and Shadows on the bookshelf at home so I had to read it. It is actually about Los Angeles border patrol undercover and it was a good read and it was, for me at the time, fairly educational. I grew up in a relatively small town so I didn't know too much about things relating to border patrol. Even though it was written by a member of law enforcement, it is not unsympathetic towards the immigrants. They were doing their jobs, but it wasn't as if they all hated the immigrants. Very descriptive.

I just started reading the women's murder club series. I'm on the first book and I'm enjoying it! You should check it out if you haven't read them yet.

I think any book by Ian Ranking should be it.
