Are there any stories you read that're about villain redemption?
Doesn't have to be books, specifically.

I mean, it's an unusual response but Supernatural (the tv show - plus some of the fiction books that are available based on the series) contains a story about the demon Crowley. He has a satisfying redemption arc over a few seasons.

Another option would be The White Princess by Philippa Gregory. It's loosely based around the life of Queen Elizabeth of York, wife to Henry Tudor but with a heavy fiction element. The TV series may do it slightly better than the books, but Henry is initially portrayed as a very forceful husband, with a slow redemption quality to his story, they soon fall in love (this happened in real life as well! It was believed that they truly loved each other until the moment she died during childbirth!)
