Some of my favourite series as a teen were Uglies, Mortal Intruments, Into The Still Blue, The 5th Wave, Partials and Defiance. All of them were at least 3 books series and they are all kind of dystopian and have a strong female lead.

I’ve seen a lot of my students reading the Flame in the Mist by Renée Ahdieh , Everless by Sara Holland and Pawn by Aimee Carter. All of the books are part of series and I’ve seen many students continue with each. I’ve read them myself and can understand why.

John Green's books are pretty popular. His brother Hank Green also writes sci fi (An Absolutely Remarkable Thing). My favorite middle grade fantasy series is the Bartimaeus trilogy. It's funny and excellently written.

Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdoms (a duology by Leigh Bardugo) is a solid read, both as a teenager and as an adult!

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas is a phenomenal book. I think it may be fit for older teens but I think that everyone should read it at some point in their life. This book changed my life and I highly recommend it.

Really depends what your teenager likes!

If he/she is into romance, I would recommend some Austen.
If he/she likes fantasy, I would recommend Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl.... There is A LOT of fantasy out there for teens.
If he/she likes whodunnits, I would recommend Sherlock Holmes, some Agatha Christie...

It really depends on the genre!

I loved The Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes when I was a teen. It's a fantasy series that has all the action and intensity of Game of Thrones without any of the incest or murders for shock value. I didn't like the last couple of books, however, I was also not a teen anymore when they came out. Needless to say, I got a bunch of the friends to read it when we were in high school so would recommend.

Divergent series by Veronica Roth
The Darkest Powers trilogy by Kelley Armstrong
Shadow Falls series by C.C. Hunter
After Dark series by C.C. Hunter
Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan

(for teens that like genres like supernatural, fantasy, romance)

I recall reading and absolutely loving the Cirque Du Freak book series back when I was in high school.

Look up The Saga Of Darren Shan by Darren O'Shaughnessy. I believe there are twelve books total (so there will be quite a lot of content to go through). There's action, supernatural elements, a general dark atmosphere to entire series, but I seriously loved the characters and the plot!

I think even a manga and a movie has been adapted off the books, but I haven't read through or seen either yet. All I know is that that the original series greatly captivated me as a teen.
