You an I, tonight!
You may forget the warmth he gave,
I will forget the light.
When you have done, pray tell me
That I my thoughts may dim;
Haste! lest while you're lagging.
I may remember him!

It's not that bad. Give it a watch (I reckon the curiosity will kill you more than the film itself, lol). I saw it when it came out in theaters after having read + loved the book and liked it ok. What's surprising is that despite it being just an ok film, I find myself rewatching it every couple of years. So it has something. For one thing, it fills up the senses with beautifully shot/edited locations, food, and music; for another, Javier Bardem's genuineness is seriously charming; and, I feel like it gets the beat of Elizabeth Gilbert's awakening/journey pretty darn well. I never quite felt like Julia Roberts was Elizabeth (v. Julia Roberts) but her performance is thoughtful and sincere. As long as you can acknowledge that a film is only ever an interpretation of a book and not the book (nor ever could be), then I think it can be held fairly it its own right. And I think that's the important thing when measuring films of books.

I have kids, though, so I just mostly see the stuff they watch. So, literally the last movie I probably saw was Descendants 3! Lol
