Depends. It's about whether the director can make it into a good movie or not, also whether the cast is able to carry out their roles or not. If the director can't picture the story clearly, change elements in a way which leaves the story consistent, then I'm absolutely against it. I have nothing against changing some elements of the story, but it's important they stick to the book at least a bit.

I agree for the most part. 9 times out of 10 I am frustrated when the choices made by the film maker fall short of the image I had in my head. 1 out of 10 times though I enjoy the film maker's version even better than what I had envisioned. Never does it match what I had in mind though.

As long as the casting is done well I have no problem with books being made into movies. But casting tends to fail a lot.

I feel the same way, which is way I love to read. I see what is happening in the story like seeing a movie in my mind.
But the short stories I have read that have been turned into movies understandably have more depth to them.

It depends. Some books are very nicely adapted into movies. Some are terrible. So I check what director and producer will be in charge before freaking out.

I personally don't mind having books made into movies. It's like having different versions of the story. Also, a movie adaptation could help promote the book as well.

With most every book I would say No, because they always seem to go so far away from the books plot line. However, I think The Hunger Games did a great job of following the books. Usually I hate it when books are made into movies though. If they would follow the books better I would feel differently.

Yes! Especially if I’ve already read the book and know it’ll be good

It depends on how good the movie adaptations are, really.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me. I've accepted movies and books as separate forms of art to present a story. But I do take it a little personally when the book happens to be one of my favourites and the movies messes the smallest details up.

There two warring perspectives when it comes down to this. On one hand I'm excited about the possibility of seeing a visual rendition of my favourite characters - I get to see certain scenes acted out, something I probably didn't grasp properly when reading the book has some light shed on it and so on. On the other, I always set my expectations so low because even with an amazing plot and divine characters the film adaptation always seem to mess something up and I end up kinda disappointed.

I love the idea of my favourite books being made into movies so they can be brought to life, but I am almost always disappointed by them.

book based movies are rarely decent in my opinion, I rarely, if never, appreciate how movies sway from the book version.
