A Series of Unfortunate Events. The movie was... ugh. Especially after watching the Netflix series, I firmly believe it was always made to be just that, a series.

Eragon, it has to be Eragon. They created a mess out of a wonderful story. ☹️

I agree completely! The book is more of an individual interaction. It takes time to think about what is happening and digest Heller's satire. That's not movie material.

Usually, it doesn't bother me, but the book is truly more terrifying than the film. There is talk about a Mini-Series adaptation that Stephen King will help direct and write the script. I hope that happens!
You're right. The movie took just a glimpse inside the characters and the motives. A lot of it seemed disjointed because so much was left out. I would enjoy a mini-series, too! Good call.

I think Dan Brown's books have so much information that it is difficult to condense them into movies. Both Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons were frustrating to watch.

Definitely Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. The book is so detailed and is such a brilliant read, but the movie barely has any of the details that make the story work so well. Plus, Harris has these rich descriptions in the book that really transport you into the story, but the movie fails to put them in video format. I was really disappointed by it - maybe because I read the book first, I don't know.

I never read the book because I am really not a Stephen King fan, but I love the movie... I may be partial because Kubrick is my favourite director :) I don't think Kubrick wanted it to be really an adaptation, but more as a separate form to tell the same story - that's how I see it. It may be a poor adaptation, but it's definitely a good movie, in my opinion. :)

Eragon would always top the list for me. They did a poor job.
The Chronicles of Narnia while lovely movies were great books and did not need any movies made out of it.

I will say, though not as good as the book, The Fault In Our Stars movie was pretty darn close.
The movie was beautifull in it's own way. Yet for me didn't entirely capture the magic that the book had created for me.

Lor, Dark Tower never should have been made into what it was made into. That series is so encompassing a whole series would struggle to do it justice.

Probably the worst book to movie I've seen is the movie of Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. It was absolutely terrible. :(

Percy Jackson. it would have been better had they left the books alone.

I think Divergent series should not have been made into a movie. The books were really great but the movies are just terrible.

Where The Red Fern Grows, it was heart wrenching enough as a book.
