I agree with what's said above that it definitely varies depending on the person and their body's needs. Usually warm liquids (like hot tea) after eating is soothing to the digestive tract, whereas cold or iced drinks can stagnate digestion by extinguishing the fire/warmth in the belly needed for proper digestion.

I like a cup of chamomile before bed sometimes and I’ve never had a problem.

I am not a great fan of tea and I would prefer any other beverage over it any time. However, if I had no other choice, black tea would be better. Less proteins less sugars.

You know, it is funny how we focus on such minor details and forget what a good diet is all about. If you are eating healthy and in proper proportions, try drinking a tea after a meal. If you feel good, than it work for you!

A quick Google search shows many benefits of both black and green tea. We can also look at the evidence...tea is the main beverage in many countries, including Poland where I come from, and people there are just as healthy as anywhere else. I personally pay more attention to the meal that comes before the tea :)

Mint tea is supposed to be good for digestion. Ginger tea too. At least according to the catalog from Upton Teas, where I buy most of my tea. They both taste good, but I don't know if they actually help anything.

It completely depends on your digestion, and tolerance.

Historically, in English culture, 'afternoon tea' was taken to aid digestion and prevent/hinder hunger.

My Grandma always said that an apple after dinner always helped digestion!

Ah yes, I've heard that it hinders iron absorption. That's an excellent point!
Yes, herbal or green tea might be best. I know ginger and peppermint is good for the stomach as well.

I suppose I should try to be more religious with my tea drinking habits, personally I noticed it did help me with appetite control and digestion. I don't know much about timing of teas, but teas are great overall.

It depends on 2 things.. your digestive system and the type of tea you drink.. If you consume tea containing caffeine (like green tea) immediately after meal, then it hampers the digestion. It is okay to drink it after 30-45 minutes post meal.

This depends on the person and how your digestive system is. It helps some, it hurts others. Tea in general is better than coffee as it is healthier. Go with what makes you happy. I love my tea though, I could probably drink tea 24/7.

A friend once rejected tea after food stating that it is colored water. Tea just doesn't help with digestion, it adds to digestive processes consequently slowing it down entirely.
