Definitely! Virgin olive oil is still considered one of the healthiest, if not the healthiest, oil. Remember when coconut oil was being pushed so hard?

I use both olive oil and butter. Portion control is what is healthy. Some recipes just need the butter.

Wow! Some of the replies really know what they're talking about! I won't pretend that I have any expertise about the specifics, but I do love cooking with butter!!

Many say olive oil is the healthiest option. When reading the nutrition facts of the oils in my cabinet (olive, vegetable, and canola) I found that they all have just about the same amount of fat - that was surprising to me. I used to hear a lot about coconut oil, but that one actually seems less healthy than most because of the saturated fat (if I'm remembering correctly.)

Unless I'm cooking for something that really calls for the olive oil taste, though, I always cook with butter. There really isn't anything tastier to me! I also cook with ghee occasionally, which some people say is healthier than butter because it's more refined. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but it tastes good too!

For my case sauce like fish or meat.I prefer the boiled to the fried kind of sauce. All kinds of cooking oil are equally useful and dangerous at the same time. Its a matter of knowing the kind of people your are preparing for and their take on differing dishes.

I'd definitely pick olive oils butter and margarine contain a lot of trans fats that add to the bad cholesterol in our body and can cause heart attacks

I typically use olive oil for cooking and butter for baking, they are the most natural choices.

So you can now get these non-stick copper pans which don't require any cooking oil/butter and I think it's something I'm definitely going to look into!

I use extra virgin olive oil and grass-fed butter. I believe they are healthier.

I use olive oil or coconut oil, mostly because I'm lactose intolerant and cannot have butter or margarine, if there are trace amounts of dairy in there.

I love to use mostly olive oil with a mix of butter. It's healthier but some of that butter flavor still comes through.

The healthiest option of all three is olive oil. Though I rarely use it; I've just not gotten used to the taste yet.

For me, olive oil tends the be the easiest and healthiest choice out of the list. There are also spray cans of olive oil, which makes cooking with it even easier.
