What is your favourite food and drink when reading.

Post by Charlottehains »

Hi everyone,

I am new I am an author and avid reader. last week I interviewed another author and one of the questions i asked was. What is your favourite food and drink when reading? so here I am going to ask the same question and then add to it.

What is you favourite food and drink when reading, do you like to cook or bake something that is silky and delicious, and does your food and drink change with the genre you are reading?

thanks all

I always have a cup of tea regardless of type of weather. I don't tend to eat when I read these days. However, when I was a teenager my ritual at the weekend was a trip to the library and then to the sweet shop for a quarter of pear drops. Then home to enjoy the spoils.

I will eat just about anything while I read. I usually keep my book propped open by whatever else is within reaching distance when I'm at my kitchen table so I don't even need my hands to hold it and I can eat sandwiches too. I can't say that the genre makes any difference.

If I had to choose only one thing though, I'd say I like a warm mug of hot chocolate held to my chest with one hand and a book in my other while I'm curled up on a couch.

Hi
Chocolate and coffee is definitely a favourite food snack and drink. Occassionally a nice hot mug of hot chocolate. I think i like chocolate too much especially on a chilly winter day.

My food choices and drink pretty much stay the same no matter what i read.

I don't drink or eat while reading since I don't want to stain the book/kindle. 8)

I think my food/drink choice definitely changes with my genre. While reading the Song of Fire and Ice series, the author is always describing these elaborate meals with roasted chicken and wine and lemon tarts and so on and I find myself buying rotisserie chickens more often! I also enjoy reading non-fiction and when I do, I find tea to be my drink of choice with some sugar cookies to pair. It's funny how that works! Now I think I need a cookie...

I guess I read books in the same manner that some people watch movies... I have a cup of hot cocoa or tea(hot or cold depending on the weather) and if I am eating it is something snacky like popcorn. I try not to eat chips so that it doesn't get onto my book but if I am using my E Reader than I am not so picky. The genre doesn't determine what kind of food I eat but it does determine how quickly I eat, the more interested I am in the story the less I eat or drink.

Occasionally I will eat when I am reading, mostly I don't. Yet I usually will have some coffee or some cinnamon tea when I am reading because it is soothing.

I agree with several others above. I love to have a hot cup of Earl Grey tea with my book; ESPECIALLY on rainy days.
