What is your favorite WEIRD food dish?

Post by DATo »

Do you have a favorite dish which is generally unknown to the civilized world?

1) The Slinger - This is actually a BREAKFAST dish.
Two eggs (prepared any way you like), two fried hamburger patties, fried potato wedges, the whole thing drowned in chile and topped with parmesan cheese. Absolutely great!

2) The English Cottage
Toasted English muffins, liberally buttered (real butter), jelly or jam (of your choice), all covered in cottage cheese. (a,Eaten with knife and fork; b. muffins hot, cottage cheese very cold; - try it, you'll like it.)

I've always had people react surprised to some of my favorite things to eat.

Toast and tomato juice, toasted tomato sandwiches, and tuna melts. I never got how they were so strange

I got to try that sometime *LOL*

OK, don't laugh .... tuna in (tomato) pasta sauce. I swear to goodness it works. Drain all the liquids from the tuna first.

Bachelor recipes are like The Three Stooges ... men can dig this kind of stuff and women will barff *LOLOLOLOL*.

I know a minor league team that has the grilled cheese burger. It is a burger that has two grilled cheese sandwiches for its buns. Awesome!

I was going to say that there must be something wrong with me (in accordance with DATo's comment) until I read that...

That would make me barf

@Gravy - What would make you barff ... the tuna in the pasta sauce? No, no,no,no ... it loses its tuna taste and actually resembles pork. Which brings me to a non-barff recommendation. I come from an Italian family and a little known secret to GREAT pasta sauce is to slow cook pork in the sauce for a long time. My mom used to do that. The pork becomes so tender you can cut it with a fork and the taste ... the taste is to die for.

@rssllue - WAY to conservative. Bachelor cooking requires something like peanut butter on those grilled cheese sandwiches *LOL*.

Back to The Three Stooges;
Jay Leno tells the story of a survey conducted in which American men were asked to list men from history who they most greatly admired. The first was Abraham Lincoln, the second was Albert Einstein, the third ... Moe. *LOL*

One of my favourite things to eat, and I suppose some people might find it weird is Vegemite on burnt toast. When I say "burnt" I mean that I don't take the slice of bread out of the toaster until smoke is filling the room. When I take the slice out it is black with ash falling off it. Yum!!! :)

I always used to love ketchup on my scrambled eggs.
And in my mashed potatoes...

I also like syrup on bacon or sausage :shifty:
