I prefer to buy new books. The freshness and the fresh smell of the new book is a real thing.

New because mostly the quality of the book affects my focus to read.

I buy both, as I posted before, BUT I love used books that have character and history to them. I wouldn't buy a used book that is damaged or unreadable, they are all in great condition and do not affect my ability to read at all.

I LOVE the patina! If you know Japanese, the "wabi-sabi" of used books. There's nothing like them. Each book has its own journey and history. Finding an out of print volume that I love is a special "treasure" find. I go treasure hunting in used book stores for the sheer joy of it. And it is an especially great find when the author has signed the book.

New is great and serves its purposes (every book needs a start to its journey, right) but a well traveled, seasoned, experienced volume is precious.

I prefer new but will always take used. However, if the book is too used and falling apart, I will splurge the extra $5 for a new book.

I love getting used books, especially if they have little notes on the margin.

I buy my books used. I don’t mind a bit of damage. It’s cheaper which means I can buy more.

I usually buy just new books, but sometimes the books I look for are not easily found new. Then I buy used ones; especially if they are not digital books.

I do both. I usually buy used books if I do not have enough money to purchase them or if there are no copies available at the bookstore that I'm already desperate to get one. So I had no choice but to buy used ones, yet they're in good condition- good as new. Otherwise, I buy new books if I have enough or extra money.

I buy books. I read books. But I think this reply is not about the newness of the book or its 'oldness'. This is just me saying that I prefer hard paperbacks to soft paperbacks. Anyway, anytime😉
