Mostly new. But I do frequent used bookstores hoping for some lucky finds.

It never used to bother me if a book was brand new or used, but somewhere along the way, I decided I like brand new ones a lot better. It makes me feel special to buy a book that counts towards a marketed sale. Almost as though I was chosen for that book, and it was chosen for me. But I do get nostalgic thinking about obviously well-loved books I've read in the past that were passed onto me. It is an intimate and wholesome experience.

I only own one used book, and after reading it, I decided that I like new books because I can keep them in pristine condition.

It sort of depends. If I have been waiting for a book to come out and I want to read it asap, then naturally I buy it new. But with the prices of new physical books these days, I tend to go with used. At one point in my life I felt that every used book sale I went to was like an adoption centre, and I would "rescue" books to take home with me :lol2: Unfortunately, that led to a larger library than my living space could handle quite quickly. I did give in and get myself an e-reader, and now most of my purchases tend to be e-books these days.

I've always bought new books, but now that I think of it, I wouldn't mind buying and reading old books at all. In fact I wouldn't even mind gifting old books, lest the person I've gifted it to gets offended. :D

Both! If I see used books at the thrift shop, I definitely can't pass them up!

I bought many used books through the years. It's a great way to save money!

I have inherited used book but I actually have only ever bought new books. If there were more used book stores around my town though I would definitely buy them used.

I love both used and new. As long as the book is intact with no pages falling off, I'm good.

I absolutely love buying used books. Not are they so so so much cheaper (meaning I can buy loads for the price of one new book) but it means they've been recycled and they have a chance to be reloved

Most of my books are used and from a thrift store. I would only gift new books.

I've been trying to be a more conscious consumer by reducing my waste. So, if I were to buy books, I would most definitely buy used. Many used books are in perfect condition and they have the original cover art on them. Occasionally I will buy new if I want the entire series for my book collection and want them all to have similar cover art (such as Harry Potter; the cover art for those books are always changing). But, I have been trying to go to my local library more often. Not only are the books free, but they have almost every book imaginable. By going to the library, it also forces me to look at other non mainstream books that are waiting to be read. Going to the library also reduces waste because the books are being reused and reread over and over again until they are destroyed.

I don't really mind used books, as long they are in good condition, however, I prefer new books. It feels nicer to have new books.

I prefer buying new books but I would take an old one assuming its previous owner had taken good care of it.
