Both! If a new book comes out that I think I'll enjoy (part of a series I love or by an author I trust), then I have no problem going out to Barnes and Noble and buying a copy new. However, I also love getting used books and have quite a collection of them. I especially suggest going out to library book sales (they happen twice a year at my local library) and getting some of those for usually a great price! This way, I also expose myself to books that I otherwise would never have considered buying, and I end up loving them all the same :)

I could buy it new or buy a used one. Whichever I'm capable of buying.

Hello! I used to buy on book sales or book fairs since I support myself financially. But if I have a budget, I treat myself to buying a new one :)
Stay safe! Sending hugs

I try to buy used books as they are cheaper and also more environment friendly

I don't mind if my books are used. I also buy new. But if I am gifting a book to someone, I buy them a brand new copy to read.

New. Due to a couple of reasons I can not stand used books.

I like having new books, but I prefer the used ones because they're usually a whole lot cheaper, and some of them have messages in them dating back decades, which is really something.

I mostly buy books that are used. I have very few books that are new.

I always buy new books but when I have to rent I have to take old ones. The smell of new books and old books is different. Both are good.

It's probably a 50/50 split for me. I always check Thriftbooks first to see if they have the book I want because it's cheaper to buy it used. But if they don't have it I'll go to Amazon and get it new.

I go for good used books first. If I cannot find it, then I may purchase it new. However, I do purchase "new releases" as new, since it takes a while for them to get into the "second-hand books" circulation. But I also love perusing used-books bookstores. I like finding treasures. I find books with author's signatures in them and get them, or old and out of print books, I love everything books.

Both. It is lovely to be a book's first reader and it is very comfy to hold a book that has felt some love over time. I love browsing through book sales at flea markets or book exchange shops, but also enjoy the crisp neatness of a bookstore with new books. I do not like the feel of a book that had a swim though, when pages are all bloated/wonky :(

Both of course, if there is a book I'm interested in, which is brand new and I am able to afford, I buy it. If there is the same book available but only in used format, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it because it could be the last time my path crosses the path of such book.

I buy both used and new books. The only criteria is that the books shouldn't be pirated.
