Also, I can't stand Young Adult anymore, when I was 14 or so, I read twilight and all of that, but now with 25 years old, I can't stand those kind of stories, I need depth in the story.

I feel you about religious books! And I often feel the same way with many 'self-help' books. I pick up a few when they sound interesting so I'm not entirely opposed, but I often end up feeling preached to.Brittany J wrote: ↑02 Jun 2018, 13:06 I have no desire to read romance novels. They just don't seem appealing to me as simply a story, and I don't feel I would gain any knowledge from them. I'm not very interested in books about sports either. I'm also turned off by most religious books unless they are objective. I can't stand being preached to.

I absolutely agree that it revolves around heteronormative storylines and that's all too real but I'm seeing an increase in books that have lgbt relationships! In romance as a genre I think the most popular ones are gay, but I read two YA fantasies that was wlw recently and it was something I never thought I needed -- so I think I'd be open to pick up a few romance books (after being deathly opposed to them for five years!)
