I like Self-help books and biographies/autobiographies the most. I particularly like reading the autobiographies of high-achieving people who I admire.

I always think of the horror/mystery/thriller as one genre...

I know they are quite different, but I would have had like 50 bajillion categories (hence "other")...

Agreed, but there is something to be said for bios about tragic failures as well.

Those make my life seem a little less like a trainwreck...

I enjoy reading romance and crime ... I like them because they make reading look more lively with alot of suspense to keep you in front of the book with looking at your time...........they are worthy to be readed,,,

What I like most didn't fit neatly into any of the given categories. Historical fiction.

It's memoirs for me. I can't help it, if i see a book that says Memoir, it's a total dammit moment because i know it will be going home with me soon. Usually the books are pretty good, but there are always the bad apples, as any other genre.

I think categorising books should be banned - all the authors I like don't fit into a category - Ann Tyler, Ann Fine, Mark Zusak (The Book Thief), Barbara Vine - and the one about the Bengal tiger and a boy in the lifeboat (can't remember the author offhand).

I'll read just about anything I can get my hands on. My favorite kinds of books are the ones that challenge my opinions, open my horizons and expose me to new perspectives. I am a proudly un-genred reader!

Gotta love the self help. I would say about 90% of all my reading is self improvement, the other 10% probably fiction.
