I enjoyed reading picture books to them as I found them so cleverly written and the illustrations are amazing. I don't really enjoy reading chapter books to them as I prefer reading myself in my head but will usually alternate reading chapters with them if I'm trying to get them to read a classic that they aren't that enthusiastic about- when we read it together we definitely get more out of it. As our read aloud we are currently reading "Hound of Baskervilles". When I'm reading to kids, I notice references to things that are racist and sexist and not at all acceptable but previously when I read the same books myself I didn't think anything of it.
