No Greater Love by Danielle Steel. I was young when I first read it. The tragedies occurring was an emotional roller coaster. But I enjoyed the ending.

Purple Hibiscus.
There was a harsh parent there and I could relate to it.

I never thought I would EVER cry during a book. Movies? Yes. I've cried at quite a few movies, but the ONE book that had me bawling was Watership Down. I was in absolute tears at the end of that one! Who knew I would be so invested in the lives of bunnies?

I cry frequently at anything by Theodore Dreiser. These great books were written about a century ago, and stand up under the passage of time. The young adult characters are full of emotion and want to live the Great American Dream going from poverty to overwhelming success. Sometimes they make it, but then slide back down. Sister Carrie is still hard for me to read. First I get angry, then I cry.

I can't really remember any book making me cry. Even though it exists, I'm not sure I did cry. I see myself so strong and can easily control my emotion. I won't allow a book that may contain untrue events make me cry.

To be sincere, movies have made me cry. Even lots of them for that matter. However, when it comes to books, I have or I can't even remember any book making me shed tears like a baby. I'm not sure it will even happen.

Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities. It was so heartbreaking what Sydney Carton did — taking his lover's husband place at the guillotine so she would not die of sadness.

The ending words ring in my head even as I right this now:
It is a far far better thing I do than I have ever done; it is a far far better rest I go to than I have ever known.

If a book does not make you cry is it even a great book? They don't have to be tears of sadness, it can be any other emotion as well. I think I've cried just about the fact that I have finished a book haha

Half of a yellow sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I have read it 4 times and I still feel emotional each time I read it

This is my first time posting on such a forum, but the topic is very close to my heart. I guess I love reading because most books give me a good cry.

The book that still gets me all sneezy is "Left to Tell” by Immaculee Illibagiza.

It is a true story of how she survived the 1994 Rwandan genocide by being locked up in a pastor's bathroom with five other people. The rest of her family was not so lucky.

Kalayla made me cry. The thought that a whole family will make a pariah out of their daughter because she chose to marry a black man was horrible. It pissed me off and made me cry like a baby.
