Man I LOVE that book! Also an all time favourite of mine
If we are talking about crying I have to mention The Song of Achilles...Circe by the same author is also sad but not as heartbreaking in my opinion.

The Fault in Our Stars. I was crying so hard and then my roommates came home and thought someone had died, I had to explain to them that someone did die but it was just a book character

Ah, I haven't read those yet because I fear they won't live up to the hype. So I'm waiting for the hype to die out a bit more :))

That's the book I'm reading right now for fun :D . Can't believe the stuff she did just to survive. Hasn't made me cry yet, though

San1968 wrote: 16 Jun 2009, 14:21 I cry at so many books that I have lost count but the ones that I found heart wrenching are "In the Memory of the forest" by Charles T Powers (one of the most amazing books I have ever read) and "Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources" by Marcel Pagnol. But I also have to admit that the James Herriot books made me laugh and cry in equal measure.
Wow, cry? So sorry you had to cry. Why did you cry really? Its just fiction.

FiveK wrote: 01 Jul 2009, 23:10 The first book that made me cry was Bridge to Terabithia, which I read in the fifth grade. Most recently, My Sister's Keeper made me cry tears of fury. There have been so many others in between. Growing up I used to cry at the end of long books or series just because I'd knew I'd miss the characters.

What sets apart the books that make you cry? Affection for the characters? Style of writing? Are people who cry when they read books just more emotional?

oooohhhhh, Bridge to Terabithia!! awe, i cried as well.

Where the Red Fern Grows was the one that really got me when I was younger. I honestly hated that book because of how it made me feel.

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. It's a great and emotional book about God's redeeming love to sinners.

I am not a weeping willow. I used to cry during my adolescence - Love Story, for instance, made me cry- but now (hundreds of books later) there is little chance for that.

I tear up reading almost all books, cause I am a romance reader, and being hopeless romantic doesn't help. But the books that had me sobbing were:
A Love Letter To Whiskey by Kandi Steiner
Maybe Someday series by Colleen Hoover
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover
Imagine if we had no secrets, no respite from the truth. What if everything was laid bare the moment, we introduced ourselves?

This book was the saddest book I had ever read, I did not expect it to end that way at all. I was looking for a happy ending. It's In Dependence. I've forgotten who wrote it but I know the publishing company is Cassava Republic.
