I like much more how the hardcover books look on a shelf, however when it comes to carrying them, I do prefer paperbacks. I once helped my book-loving friends to move house and at that moment I did wish they had more paperbacks :).

Well I get hardcovers. The reason for this is because I hate when my books get ripped. But every blue moon I get paperbacks beacause they are cheaper. And they sometimes run out of hard backs :D

Definitely paperback, it is way cheaper and easier to read with.

It depends: if its a novel or a work of fiction I don't mind the convenience of a paperback. Its smaller, fits in my handbag and is generally easier to handle. If it's non-fiction, and worthy of hanging onto for reference or as part of a collection for years to come, it has to be a hard-back! With dust-jacket intact preferably!

To be honest, I like hardcover, but mostly of my books are paperback, because it is lighter and more comfortable for transport.

I'm inclined to like hardcover books. I have been able to read a hardcover book without folding, tearing, spilling anything on it. I can't say the same for paperback books. LOL. I really think it's just me, but my school books were so expensive I used to take extra care of the hardback books and it just went over to my everyday reading. I'm getting better with paperback books, but I still like hardback books.

I prefer hardcover because of aesthetics, but I find paperback books less bulk, which makes them more convenient for traveling purposes. :D

Hardcovers last longer, so I like them better. However, paperbacks are convenient for when you're travelling and you can fit them in your purse.

I prefer the hardcover, although I do admit paperback books are easier to read.

I love the feel of hardcover books the most, and the sound of the spine when you open one up! But reading in general is fantastic.

I prefer paperback when on the go, for obvious reasons.

And while I'm a cheap so & so I still go for hardcover when buying because, if I buy it the intent is to keep it for while.

I have this weird thing about not liking the look of too many paperbacks on my permanent shelves. Not sure where I picked that up from, but can't shake it.

Luckily since I'm so backed-up with books I already have and want to read, there's really never a 'must-have-a-once', so a library request or digital format usually gets me by.

I prefer my Kindle, however when I download a book that I absolutely love I am going to buy that hard back book. Paperbacks tear on the corners, the pages yellow faster, and the spine can get damaged all quite easily. I want my friends to come over and see beautiful books on my shelves, not worn out paperbacks. Does that make me a stuck-up book nerd? Probably!

I prefer paperbacks, both because they are more budget friendly and because they are easier to handle when reading in bed.
