This quote moves me very much. I can definitely resonate with it because I used to be a very timid person. When I saw this quote, I was inspired to reflect myself. Why was I scared doing this and that? Those imagined "consequences" hadn't even happened or were so unlikely to happen. At the end, I concluded that I just didn't want to tread on unfamiliarity. Now everytime I face something I feel scared of, I remind myself of this quote and say to myself there's nothing there to fear.It's the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more.

- Death & Susan Sto Helit: Hogfather (Discworld #20) by Sir Terry Pratchett‘Ah,’ said Susan dully. ‘Trickery with words. I would have thought you’d have been more literal-minded than that.’ I AM NOTHING IF NOT LITERAL-MINDED. TRICKERY WITH WORDS IS WHERE HUMANS LIVE. ‘All right,’ said Susan. ‘I’m not stupid. You’re saying humans need . . . fantasies to make life bearable.’ REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE. ‘Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—’ YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES. ‘So we can believe the big ones?’ YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING. ‘They’re not the same at all!’ YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY, AND YET— Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME . . . SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED. ‘Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what’s the point—’ MY POINT EXACTLY.
It's so hard to pick a quote from Sir Terry, the man is a satirical genius - I probably have close to a hundred of them saved somewhere! Thought I'd post this one, which is a conversation between Death and his granddaughter Susan, because it resonates with me right now.

As a massive Harry Potter fan, there are so many books that I absolutely love. I have "Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light" printed as a poster in my room. Love this quote as well - thanks for sharingInkroverts wrote: ↑11 Sep 2019, 23:15This quote moves me very much. I can definitely resonate with it because I used to be a very timid person. You an I, tonight!
You may forget the warmth he gave,
I will forget the light.
When you have done, pray tell me
That I my thoughts may dim;
Haste! lest while you're lagging.
I may remember him!

Seanan McGuire ~ The Unkindest Tide"Sometimes you need to take peoples' minds off their problems if you want those problems to resolve themselves," said Marcia. "Focusing on things can make them worse."
"Not all problems go away if you ignore them. Most don't."
"No, but not all problems can be fixed. Sometimes you have to wait until the situation changes."
What is grief, if not love persevering?
Grief is just love with no place to go.

you have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...
