Definitely shorter chapters! I feel like I've accomplished something every time I finish a chapter and it motivates me to keep going. Plus it's easy to find your spot. Although when I know it's only 2-3 pages until the end of the chapter, that's when I'll stay up all night reading (which is sometimes awesome, but not when I have to work early the next morning) because it's "only 3 more pages", but then the next one's only 3 more, etc. etc.

I find it easier when the chapters are short. That way if I only have a few minutes to read I can get a whole chapter in.

I also don't care. Even though chapters that are only half page long bother me if they are put one after another. It feels like it stops the flow of a book. If the book is good, however, I really don't care about the length of the chapters.

Depends on the book! Love the long chapters in, say, A Song Of Ice And Fire, because each chapter tells such a significant portion of each character's story and you really feel like you read something worthwhile.
But sometimes short chapters increase the pace of the novel and make it seem like you're flying through it!

Definitely prefer to read shorter chapters. They help me to progress through the book quicker and easier.

Also, sometimes I want to read before bed but don't want to read a long chapter, so shorter ones are helpful, in that regard.

I'm not really into the length of the story as long as it is interesting and fresh. The twist and turn is flawlessly done.

The number of chapters doesn't matter as long as the book is intriguing

I prefer books with short chapters, I feel the authors tend to get straight to the point and avoid un-needed details or fillers.

I prefer short chapters because it enables me to absorb the content better. Long chapters are monotonous.

I prefer longer chapters. Longer chapters tend to be more descriptive or telling of the character's point of view or the settings or circumstances. Shorter chapters feel clunky to me. They cause breaks in the story and sometimes switch between different points of view or characters. They might be easier to read bit by bit over a long period of time. I still prefer long chapters that I can binge read.

I think it depends on the book. I think having varied length chapters is good. Not 80 page chapters or 2 pagers, though. :)

What I'm not a fan of are those books with short chapters where there is no connection between the chapters, or where it's not sequential if it is telling the story of something that happened or of a certain organization (like chapter 2 describing the founding of the organization, but ending with numerous loose threads, then three chapters that are completely unrelated - one about a financial crisis 15 years later, another about the impact of the organization's activities in modern times, and the other about a personal struggle between the CEO and characters who haven't been introduced yet, then chapter 6 goes back to the founding narrative again, as if there was no interruption... yes, I have read books like that, and it makes me want to close the book and put it in the "donations" box before finishing it). Yes, if the chapters are alternating between current and flashback, that's okay... but there needs to be a reason for the transition, you know? /end rant :roll2: /
