I am a terrible book owner!! I dog ear pages and I will lay an open book face down on my bedside table until picking it up the next day. I know a true book lover would use book marks but I never seem to have one so I dog ear or lay an open book down and then turn off the light. Spills and such are typically accidents. My abusive behavior to my books is not accidental. Again, I am a terrible book owner!

I don't know...I might be too far gone. However, they do say that the first step to recovering is to recognize that you have a problem.

In some cases, I'd say the worst thing I'd done with a book is read it. But thinking of good books, the worst thing I've done is leave it outside a Walmart overnight in heavy rain.

It was Knowing God by J. I. Packer. For me, this was a life-changing book, full of highlighted passages and notes in the margins. My mom surprised me with a new copy, but when I go back to the book, I prefer my horribly water-damaged version.

The worst thing that I have done is have it tossed in the recycling. There was no time to do anything other than that and it couldn't come with me. Sacrilegious, I know.

I guess I tore out a page for extra credit once. It was a colored picture of a galaxy I think, and I really wanted the bonus points.

I slept off while reading so my hands or body squeezed and tore part of a page while I was sleeping.

I put my book in my backpack. I forgot that my water bottle was also in my backpack. It spilled and ruined the book. :(

I think the worst thing I've ever done to a book is abandon it without finishing it and then giving the book away. Sorry Da Vinci Code, but I just couldn't get through it.

One time, I had a book in my backpack and I accidentally dropped my scissors inside the backpack. The scissors cut some of the pages at the top. It wasn't horrible but I still had to tape them back together.

I had a nosebleed whilst I was reading and the poor book got covered in blood. It was a library book too... I felt so bad that I bought another copy for the library.

I have slipped a book off my hand while I was travelling on a train along the window seat and it eventually fell off into a river from a bridge.

I used a thin, hardcover book from I think a Weekly Reader series to block a hole in a hamster cage. The hamster tried to chew through the book, of course, so the cover had a big round chew hole on it. I think it was Serendipity although it could have been Flutterby.
