Reading a variety of genres?

Post by CandyCandy »

Are you a reader who's flexible with all sorts of books and any genre? Like, you could read a fantasy book and enjoy it but you'd also gladly read a historical book from cover to cover without feeling bored. Or are you focused on one genre or a specific little group of genres?

I'm the sort of reader who's willing to try just about anything. I don't have any particular genre that I prefer - I'm just as likely to pick up a mystery as I am a romance or a science fiction novel. I'm also open to reading books from different time periods and cultures. In fact, one of the things I love most about reading is that it allows me to travel to different places and experience new things, even if I never leave my armchair)

Yes! Love switching between fantasy, mystery, non-fiction, historical fiction and quite frankly anything else that catches my eye.

Yes definitely. For the longest time as a teenager, I pigeonholed myself into young adult fantasy novels. It was Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell that got me started on truly enjoying nonfiction. Ever since that book, I've tried to give every genre a chance since they all have their own unique appeals.

Probably focused on a smaller group of genres. I love romance and crime/thriller books, but dependent on the plot of other books I might read them too

I read different genres: Sci/fic, romance, adventure, mystery, crime, fantasy, and horror. but there are some that I can't really go with emotionally if they have a sad plot.

I read different genres and read just about anything and everything ! I'm a big mood reader so that's how I choose what genre to read on a specific day or time

I don't like fantasy nor historical fictions. I pick genres.

No, my variety of genres is a bit limited. I only read fantasy and science fiction. There were a couple other books I read, but I didn't enjoy them.
