I'm surprised that I even have shelves! No, just kidding. I have 3 very nice ones that are huge and then a couple of those white small 3 shelved ones from Wal-Mart. They aren't organized at all. I do have a pretty good idea on where most of the books I want to read are though. Maybe a little organized, all of my cozy mysteries are on the living room shelf, all of my more sophisticated classics and such are in my bedroom and then the rest I have scattered and lining my stairs!

Prior to running out of room, my fiction shelves were organized by author's last name and my non-fiction shelves were organized by dewey decimal number.

Pretty organised. Oversize books on the top shelf, then by author's surname. Series of books are also in publication order.

My book shelf is fairly neat. However, my daughters' books shelves are a hot mess! The girls (6 and 2) love to take down every book, spread them all out on the living room floor, and flip through their favorites, scooting between them to get to the next. I'm happy they both love their books, but am hopping they discover a neater way to enjoy them.

When I had quite a big collection of books before I bought my ereader, I had them categorized by author and from the most to least liked. I also had a separate shelve for hard cover books. They just don't look right on the shelf next to paperbacks.

I keep running out of bookshelves. I have two massive ones, three half sizes, one "normal skinny" sized one, another I made out of four milk crates stacked on each other, and another shelf solely for my cookbooks. They are organized by author: alphabetically, but my skinner shelf is weird. I put all my craft books, old text books and all my Star Trek books on there. Those are organized ina way only I can figure out since my husband won't go near it.

It used to be really organized until my books started overflowing. I have the shelves arranged by author. Although, now some of the books don't fit so I need a bigger bookshelf!

Currently my shelves are organized by alphabet via book title, but if there is a series it is the entire series. For instance, "Obsidian" by Jennifer Armentrout starts with O so I place it in the proper orientation for the alphabet, but since it's the first in a series I just place the second book next until the final book, then move on to the next letter.

I kind of want to change it to color coding though, but that presents another issue! Haha

My bookshelf is set up in alphabetical order according to the author's last name with no regards to genre. At one point, I organized my books by size.

My books are organized first by comics/manga/children's books. Then after that I go by the last name of the author. If authors have a series, I put that series in order. If they have multiple series, then I go by the name of the series alphabetically. There has been 2 series though that I have had to intermingle because they are in the same world and have some of the same characters. I am sort of OCD about my books and can find things easier with my system.

The books I'm currently reading are organised in my bookshelf above my desk in by genre the sub-divided by Authors name. Then I am ashamed to say the rest are just everywhere, the other day I found a copy of a book I bought from a socialist book shop in London ,out of interest when I went three years ago, in my car and I've only had the car 6 months.
