I don't do it on purpose, but I could definitely tell the difference in the smell of books from my local thrift store, bookstore, or library. I start sneezing if it's too dusty. :?

I love to smell my books. I can't say that I'll judge a book off it, OP (no judgement), but occasionally while reading I'll stop to fan through the pages and smell my book. If only I could make a candle from that scent!

It's weird that I find the pages of new books smell like a type of food that I love to eat.. (no, I haven't been dropping food all over my books) but I really love the smell of it! I do sniff old books as well... it's just an instinct to sniff a book as soon as you buy it.

This post made me laugh out loud! Mostly because I am SO guilty of this! I love the smell of new books but even more so I love the smell of an old, clearly loved book! I have a set of the Narnia series that my dad bought when they first came out and they just smell so wonderful to me! I totally get this topic!

Hello, my name is Katherine and I am a book sniffer. I have been a book sniffer for as long as I can remember, and I am shameless. Text books, novels, self help, magazines- I just can't help myself-nor do I want to. And yet, to this day I have never sniffed a Kindle.

Sniffing never occurred to me; I had no idea people did such a thing :)

Personally, I don't like to do that. Maybe when it's brand-new, I'd sniff it 3 times at most. It still doesn't compare to a newly-washed shirt, though.

I LOVE the smell of books! There is something so soothing about the smell. It doesn't matter to me if it's old or new, they all make me exceptionally happy. And fanning the pages is the best way to get the full experience.

And coming soon, you can take the smell on your very person all day long with our new-book-smell cologne for men and perfume for the ladies! In stores, book stores of course, in time for Christmas!" Or something like that.
Haha I know that they have Book and Library scented candles now, so it's probably just a matter of time. :P

I must admit that is part of the visceral process that is reading...the weight, feel, and smell of a book. This is why I have such a hard time reading ebooks or using ereaders. It's just not the same.
