I don't ever remember a time when books weren't my best friends. When I was about three, I started to teach myself to read because of a book which we had that had page numbers written out. By the time I was in first grade, I was reading my younger brothers bedtime stories. My mother always said that books were my favorite things from the time I could hold them. Apparently, I would spend hours just looking at the words - and pictures, if the books had them. Even Sears catalogs were fun to page through and just look at. Since my family moved a lot while I was growing up, books were the friends I could always count on having.

I was probably 8 years old. I would sneak off in primary school during class to the book corner to read.

I always enjoyed reading (or being read to before I learned how to read for myself). But I think I really discovered my love and passion for reading when I was eleven. I was home from school for a year because of illness and I spent almost all of my time reading.

I have always liked books even before I could read them. I had cassets and listened to bedtime stories every night, unless my dad would make up stories to tell me or read something for me. But I could say that I really discovered my love for books at the age of 12. :techie-studyinggray: :)

I was probably in the fourth or fifth grade. I was grounded a lot as a child, so I was practically forced into reading books to pass the time. It's a bit crazy to admit that those days were the start of my life as a bookworm.

I was about ten years old then. It took me a while to actually love reading.

I think I was about 9 or 10. There was a couple of book series in my mother language aimed at young girls and I would love to read on family vacations when we would go camping. My first book that I loved was one before I could read that had these really colorful shapes in it - I think it might have been a book about space and I checked it out from the library multiple times to look at the pictures :)

I was 12 or 13 when I realised that I was obsessed with the idea of being in a library and reading books.

I was about 4 years old when I taught myself to read with a Cinderella book and CD set. When I went to first grade my teacher realized I was way ahead of my classmates and would get bored of the "cat sat on the mat" reading books very quickly. She pulled me aside one day after she saw me get frustrated during group reading when a classmate attempted to read "the". She gave me my first chapter book and exempted me from group reading. I was 6 turning 7 and if it wasn't for her I probably would have ended up being a hassle in class and hating school. :techie-reference:

8 or 9. I used to read under the covers with my night light or would wake up at the crack of dawn to continue reading my book.

I was around 10 years old. While everyone was in sports or dance I was in the library.
