No. I will eventually be taken by one, either by the music or the book; or I might just fall asleep instead.

I like listening to music while reading, especially if an author mentions a particular song during the book. I really like how authors are now making playlists to go with books, and I love to listen to that while I read. I think it enhances the book.

It really depends on the music. As long as it's not too loud and commands more attention than the book I'm reading, it's all good.

I find that it is too hard to concentrate on the book if I am also trying to listen to lyrics, so I stick with something instrumental or a song that I'm very familiar with so I can tune it out.

I listen to either Celtic music or Native American flute music while I read. Both just helps me to relax and enjoy the book more.

No. I can't read unless there's complete silence around me.

I like to listen to either gentle music like classical, or the Canadian Tenors while I read. If I am reading for work I generally wear my earphones without music like I am doing at this moment. It is odd but it actually helps me stay focused on what I am doing.

I do. If I don't I will get distracted with things going on around me. Unless I'm home alone and there isn't anything around to distract me.

I listen to instrumental music while studying. Something about Indian Classical music helps me focus. But I can't listen while reading for pleasure. It feels like I wouldn't be doing justice to either of those.

I usually have soft music on while I'm reading. For me, it's just a part of relaxing with a good book. If hubby is also reading, the music is off as it makes him crazy to have it on while reading.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

I used to listen to music while I read, but I now I usually read in silence. Sometimes I still will, but most of the time I won't.

I can listen to almost any music while reading, from pop to metal.
The one thing I can't listen to while reading, though, is the tv, probably because people talking on a show is so close to how I hear the words I am reading in my head. Music to me is one long string, so it doesn't bother me much while reading.

I do!! Listening to music just adds to the story and makes it more dramatic that way, but of course it depends what kind of music you're listening to.

I like silence when I read, which is hard to get with five children in my house.
When I write, however, I choose music to fit the mood the character should be in, and it helps put me in the same mood!
