I am too old for that. :) its harder than you think. You still have to use your elbows to heave yourself up. I need to stop eating, full stop.

I think that would work for me. There are several times I have to lay down to do things, light my water heater when I change propane tanks, clean under the fridge, stuff like that. I tried it yesterday, lying down and getting up a few times and I worked out a system where it is fairly easy, even with my bad knees.

I can lose weight if I have the right motivation and sometimes a book can be pretty motivating.

Yes certainly books can help. A good book helps to increase your knowledge and stimulates ideas. The real motivation has to come from inside you. Understanding what you need to do is one thing and actually doing it is another thing. Everyone knows that habits are hard to break so the thing to do is extablish new, good and healthy habits. Making nutrition and regular exercise a part of your lifestyle will help create a new you that does not have old problems."The Fitness Center Handbook"

The operative word in that sentence is "help". Yes, I think anything positive can help you lose weight.

A pro-active health and fitness book which encourages a balanced diet, changing habits, exercise, etc, will help.
Often triggers can make people eat, e.g. coffee, cigarettes, lack of water sending the wrong signals, carbohydrates.

Sometimes it's a case of re-educating your palate - easier said than done!

Nothing will be helpful from the health point of view until and unless you are not taking any initiatives. :)
