It depends on the day to be honest. Sometimes I like to listen to music while writing or reading, but sometimes it will distract me so I won't. It depends on the kind of music it is too.

I can only read when it is quite. For me books are like a movie in my head and I want to fully concentrate and enjoy the story to it's max. I don't want to miss any details.

If reading during the day noise doesn't bother me, I often read in restaurants, coffee shops etc. I do like it quiet when I read just before bed each night, since that is how I slow down my world before sleeping.

I eman a quiet place ideal but I can tolerate noise at a certain level because, of course there will be noise. The whole world doesn't revolve around me and no one needs to stay quiet because I am reading (I mean come on, I'm not that selfish).

I can easily read out in public such as at book shops, restaurants, parks, etc. When I am home though I would prefer quiet. Although, if I do have music going it has to be instrumental. When it's not I tend to drift off and listen to the words of the song or if a TV show is on I catch myself glancing from my book to look at the TV. All in all peace and quiet would be my preference but within my life that doesn't usually happen!

I prefer to read when it is quiet. I will though read in waiting rooms, busy airports, or airplanes (which aren't so quiet), but usually I take a book that I have read several time before- that way if I get distracted it's not as big of a deal. I don't like to play music or anything like that while I read, I really prefer it to be quiet.

I usually need absolute silence, but if I'm reading while walking on the treadmill, I don't mind the background sounds as long as I play classical music from Pandora or my playlists from my purchased music.

It doesn't really matter, my attention would be on my book. Especially if it's a good one!

I used to be a practically "complete silence" kind of guy. Noise, talking, and distractions all bothered me to no end. So, in order to block all of those out, I started to read with white noise in the background. From there, I have started listening to instrumental music while I read. As long as there are no words/singers, I'm good to go!

I usually prefer medium background noise but sometimes I look up from my book and discover my husband has been talking to me (loudly) about something for a while now and I had no idea..

I can read in any environment. I had to learn to read with noise growing up because when my mom and aunt's got together it was never quiet! Lol so either I learned how to block that out or I didn't read at all. I don't usually read in dead silence but I can and honestly once I'm "in" a book I don't hear anything anyway.
