Favorite Book As A Child/Teen That You Still Re-Read

Post by Mitsu-Senpai »

For me it would be The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale. I've lost the physical copy I had since I was a kid but I own a copy on my new nook and it's definitely still one of my favorite books. I haven't read the rest of the series itself but I'm sure someday I'll get around to it. I also loved V. C. Andrews when I was younger. I still do but I definitely prefer HER work rather than the work her ghost writer keeps churning out under her name. They keep getting worse and worse each new one that comes out. I mean he turned My Sweet Audrina, my absolute favorite of all the ones I read, into a series. It was never meant to be a series. I read the sequel. Its like bad fanfiction. And DO NOT get me started on the "Diaries" series. It's so sad what he did to her characters.

My favorite book as a kid will be purple Hibiscus as a teen by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The book is in my shelve at home. Anytime I feel down or bored, gosh that is the book for me.

I always go back to Beauty by Robin Mckinley. It got me through a rough time and my copy is very worn, but I love it.
Give me the courage to get through this week...or at least a big bar of chocolate :D

'Tinkle' a comic book.

'Goosebumps' by R.L. Stine started my love for reading English fiction (English is my second language). I thoroughly enjoyed this series, also the 'Choose-Your-Own-Story' books. I was around 13 at the time.

The Outsiders!

Several of my friends and I read it as young teenagers and then saw the movie in the theater. We still quote parts of the book back and forth to each other. I don't reread it often, but I do enjoy it still.

Oh my goodness, this is exactly what made me get into reading. Those choose your own adventure books were so cool! Have you gone back and read as an adult? I have been tempted but I don't want the memories to be ruined if they're not as great as an adult.

I used to love the Redwall Abby series and I recently got all 22 books from my husband for christmas/birthday... and they are just as good as I remembered them.

and of course I have to re-read Maniac McGee and The Never-ending Story every once in a while
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” HST

I always go back to Michael Ende's "The Neverending Story". It's just as captivating and relevant now as it was when I was eight!

I just came into this thread to say this!

I love it so much! I've been thinking of giving it another reread sometime soon.
It's also the whole reason I want to learn to German.

For me, this is the Harry Potter series! I either re-read or listen to the series on Audio every year.

Hi Gravy! Thank you for coming to the thread, I feel so validated :D My dad is German (like, born in Germany and lived there for decades German) and he's the one who gave it to me when I was little. He bought me the English version though lol. This story is a great incentive for me to learn German too though. Time to break out Duolingo again!
